RuneScape skilling stations: What they are and how they benefit

05/03/2014

RuneScape has added portable skill stations to the game. This RuneScape guide looks at the first four types of skill stations and their benefits.

There are four types of portable skill station; the range (cooking,) forge (smelting/smithing,) well (herblore,) and sawmill (planks.) RuneScape players can place them anywhere where a fire can be lit, including next to some bankers/bank chests. Any player can use a skill station.

The portable range grants 121% of the normal cooking experience (21% more than regular), with 5% chance of receiving double the food cooked. The forge can be used as a furnace or an anvil, giving a 5% chance of receiving two bars smelting and 110% the normal smithing experience. When smithing, RuneScape players will use 10% less bars on average. Both these items are available to free players and members.

The sawmill allows RuneScape players to convert planks to logs for 90% of the regular cost; 90gp for planks, 225 for oak, 450 for teak, and 1350 for mahogany. Occasionally, RuneScape players will receive protean planks too. The well is used to get vials of water that give a boost of 10% herblore experience and 5% chance of making two potions when training herblore. Both these portable stations are members only.

Portable skill stations last for only five minutes each. They will be available for a short duration on the treasure hunter, but there is no guarantee they will not remain/return.
