RS Legacy Mode hits beta

06/17/2014

Runescape’s legacy mode officially hits beta phase on 16th June Monday. Old-school gamers and those who crave for different combat experience can now try the beta and submit their valuable opinions the Developers.

Legacy Mode is designed for players to enjoy the game with an old-school style. OSRS players do not need to spend time adapting the new combat system in RuneScape 3. But it is not mandatory, players can decide whether they want to use the Legacy Mode and when. This mode could be turned off or switched on as you like.

Here are some noticeable features of the Legacy Mode:

Old RuneScape combat system, without abilities

UI from old school RS with improvement, you can even adjust size

Life health re-cape to 990

There are many other minor changes to make the gaming experience more traditional style. These changes are mostly ideas from the community. The developers have recently conducted a players’ survey to collect information.

Besides the launch of Legacy Mode beta, the developers also introduce some general updates to the current combat system, aiming to improve players’ combat experience. PVP is the main focus. Of course these changes will be applied to Combat Legacy Beta as well:

‘138 ‘combat formula has been restored. Now with balanced melee, ranged and magic elements

Weapons regain special attack abilities.

Strength bonus will replace Critical hit chance and provides better damage.

Some important balancing tweaks including, life health is more related to stats not armor, combat triangle more relaxed in terms of penalties and bonuses, abilities damage is no longer imbalanced. For those who are not interested in Legacy Mode, they still have many new contents as listed above to find out.

During the Legacy Mode Beta period, the developers will collect players’ feedbacks and do community polls to decide whether to keep it in the future game. There is also a Behind the Scenes video available on the website for you to learn more about the Legacy Mode.
