Spears in Runescape are two-handed, members-only stabbing weapons (except the Clan vexillum, Daemonheim spears up to fractite, the corrupt dragon spear, and the Skull sceptre ), whereas hastae are one-handed.

They are obtained from either monster drops, buying from a shop or players, or by Smithing on the special barbarian anvils when learning in Barbarian coaching. With the weapon animation update of 28 July 2009 the zamorakian spear's attack animation has been improved making it appear far more credible.

The same attacking sprite has been applied to the regular spears (bronze-dragon) in order that they're, regarding animations, on one line with the latest improved zamorakian spear.
