A pair of Vatican peace doves

A pair of Vatican peace doves were attacked just as soon as they left the open window where the Pope and two children set the doves free in front of a crowd of thousands on Sunday. According to MSN News on Jan. 26, it was a seagull and a crow that swooped down out of nowhere and attacked the birds that are a symbol for peace.

It was like an opening scene of a scary movie as Pope Francis and two children smiled while watching the doves fly free. As the birds got just feet away from them, the other birds brutally attacked the doves, plucking feathers off of the doves in midair.

The doves flew away from the area, but the seagull and crow were close behind, so there is no telling what happened in the end to the doves.

One of the doves broke free from the gull and as he did a bunch of feathers floated down toward the crowd. The crow was the more brutal of the two attackers, relentlessly pecking at his targeted dove.

Pope Francis was at the window earlier appealing for peace in the Ukraine, which has seen a deadly uprising in recent weeks. The doves getting attacked after his appeal wasn’t the best sign if you happen to be someone who believes in omens!
